Coming from the cool, sheltered rainforests of New South Wales and Queensland, Dicksonia youngiae sends up multiple trunks and is relatively fast growing adding up to 10 cm height in a single season. The fronds are a glossy deep green. It will need winter protection from temperatures below freezing, and shelter from the wind.
