A regal specimen of upright fronds with brown hairy midribs. Rachis (stalk) is noticeably dark, often with black scales which is particularly striking against the emerging yellowish-green fronds. Nathaniel Wallich (1786–1854) was a Danish botanist, author, and curator of Calcutta Botanic Garden.
Deciduous.
Care: Keep moist, but well drained. Happy in dry shade once established.
